25 years as Consultant chemical pathologist in NHS Hospital.
For 16 years of that time also in charge of lab analysing blood and rine for alcohol levels. Consequently asked to attend court to give evidence in drink-driving cases and that has continued until the present time. I usually receive about 1 case every week for reports and attend court wherever required about once a month. I have carried out many alcohol loading tests to assess degrees of intoxication, absorption rate of alcohol and also rate of decline in blood alcohol in individuals. Since retiring from the NHS I review the literature regularly by use of the internet
