Initial Investigation & Assessment

• Preliminary review of case facts for merit
• Ensure damage and causation factors are clearly understood
• Conduct medical research
• Consult with practicing topic experts
• Provide investigative direction
• Assist in creation of Statement of Claim

During the Discovery Process

• Review all medical records, Statements of Claim and Defence
• Identify inaccurate information and critical omissions in the medical record
• Identify injuries, damages and causation factors
• Define applicable standards of care and deviations
• Assist in developing witness specific questions for oral discovery

If a Written Expert Opinion is Required

• Compile a detailed chronology of case events
• Provide a written report of expert nursing opinion
• Develop relevant graphs, charts and medical illustrations

If the Case Proceeds to Trial

• Appear in court as an expert witness
• Speak clearly and objectively on case facts
• Present an expert opinion with skill, knowledge and confidence
• Develop court presentation material from x-rays, MRIs, or CAT scans
• Provide knowledge, medical opinion and examination questions to litigators during trial on request
