Headed by James W. Munday MIFireE FSSDip, IAAI-CFI, a practising Forensic Scientist for over 30 years, specialising in fire and explosion investigation since 1979. Formerly a Senior Forensic Scientist with the Scotland Yard Forensic Science Laboratory in London, he has examined the scenes of over 1800 incidents (many of which were complex and/or high profile and including some 350 fatalities) and carried out laboratory tests on items and materials from more than 1000 others. Jim is a UK National Crime Faculty and NSW Crime Faculty approved specialist and has given evidence as an expert witness on many occasions in all types of legal proceedings around the world.

Other members of our Australian team include John Horswell MSc, FSSDip, FRACI, FIFireE, ex-Australian Federal Police Forensic Services, and our fire safety specialist Ray Manser FIFireE, recently of the NSW Fire Brigades.

Our Senior International Associates are John D DeHaan BS PhD FABC FSSDip IAAI-CFI (USA based) and Michael D Gardiner BA MIFireE (UK based). We have other Associates worldwide with a range of expertise in forensic, fire and related areas.

Following the success of JW Munday & Associates UK operation, our Australian operation offers the same high quality, impartial, timely and reliable expertise in fire and explosion investigation and related fields throughout Australia, New Zealand and the Asia-Pacific region.

We offer a full range of forensic science and engineering support in the investigation of fires and dispersed-phase explosions. These services are available to clients in the law enforcement, legal, insurance and other fields with an interest in determining the origin, cause, development, effects and potential of such incidents. The findings can be used in support of criminal prosecution and/or defence, civil litigation, establishment of liability etc. and may be presented in court or other appropriate setting as expert evidence.

We carry out primary incident investigations, secondary assessments & re-interpretations and provide expert advice and evidence. We can advise on risk engineering and arson control measures. Jim has special expertise in the interpretation of thermal injury distribution.
We also offer a comprehensive range of training packages in all aspects of fire investigation.

We can also provide advice and support in a wide range of
other forensic science disciplines including crime scene examination, recovery and comparison of trace evidence”.
