Consulting Geologist Jeffrey Farlam BSc., CEng., FIMMM
Jeffrey Farlam is essentially a 1950s Durham University geology graduate, who also became a chartered mining engineer. His early professional geological and mining experience was in tin, columbite and later coal mining and quarrying in Africa, Australia, Canada, the United States and the United Kingdom. Since 1987 he has concentrated on geological consulting generally and expert witness roles specialising in foundation subsidence, underground void research and ground and embankment stability.
After 34 years as a working geologist, mine management and consulting in mining and quarrying with geological and mining expert witness applications, he became a freelance geologist and mining engineer with his own company, Farlam & Associates in 1987, working principally in the United Kingdom, Ireland and occasionally in Australia, Canada, New Zealand and the United States, where he currently has active geological and mining associates.
Many of his assignments have involved expert witness roles and he has alsoworked as a geological consultant generally and in civil engineering, drilling, mining and quarrying. He has also undertaken a wide variety of research applications in civil engineering geology and both opencut and underground mining.
He now welcomes email or telephone enquiries from anyone who is experiencingproblems in his specialist areas of application and he will volunteer an initial off-the-cuff opinion or give outline advice at no charge.
He has Durham BSc degrees in Geology and Geography and is a Chartered Geological Engineer and a Fellow of the Institute of Materials, Minerals andMining..
