Dr Dhar has worked as a Consultant Forensic Psychiatrist (community, inpatient, prison and Court liaison) and Consultant Psychiatrist for Psychiatric Intensive Care and challenging behaviour. He is approved under Section (12)2 of the Mental Health Act 1983. He has also trained in Law and qualified as a Barrister. He was formerly Clinical Director of General Mental Health Services and so is experienced in service and employment matters, inquiries and clinical negligence. He is an honorary academic and lectures on courses at Institute of Psychiatry, Kings College, London. He currently leads on clinicolegal work including expert evidence. He is a respected expert witness skills trainer for joint Institute of Psychiatry and City University workshops.

He has prepared psychiatric reports and evidence for criminal & civil matters addressing a range of issues in the UK and across different jurisdictions for many years.He is experienced in providing oral and written evidence to Court including the Old Bailey and High Court. As a medical manager he has experience of Inquiries, evidence for coroners court, clinical negligence and employment hearings and can provide independent reports for these purposes.
